SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
 

This Friday the class of 2019 is helping to host a fish fry at the Kent City American Legion.  Please invite your friends and family and come enjoy dinner and help support the class of 2019!

Any student interested in color guard for the fall please stop by and sign up with Mr. Schnicke or Miss Garvin sometime this week. They are at the High School 3rd Hour, and 2nd Lunch through the end of the day. If you have never been in color guard but are interested, please sign up. Workouts are beginning very soon.

Student Government is once again hosting a blood drive.  It is on Friday, May 4th.  See Mr. Jakiemiec this week to sign up to get out of class and save lives!

There will be a student government meeting in Mr. Jakiemiec's room this Friday morning at 7:10 a.m. to organize the upcoming blood drive and to set up class elections coming up in May.

Seniors - The senior class picture and college corner pictures will be this Thursday at 10:00. 
If you have the college or university shirt that you plan on attending where that or bring it with you for the college corner picture. Please meet outside the gym doors by the HS/MS parking lot.  

 

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS
 


Attention Side Line Cheer:  There will be a parent meeting on May 3rd at 6:30 in the high school media center.  Also, tryouts will be May 15 and May 16 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm (both days) in the high school gym. 

Boys Track Remains Undefeated (2-0) After Winning Lakeview Dual (89-48)!  Scoring came from a variety of athletes last night as we outscored the Wildcats of Lakeview.  The results are as follows:  1st Place3200m Relay (Jones, Flegel, Wheeler, Garza), 800m Relay (Bair, Hartley, J. Weeks, Williams), 1600m Relay (Nelson, Bair, G. Weeks, Jones), 400m Relay (Bair, J. Weeks, Hartley, G. Weeks), G. Weeks (LJ, 100m-11.31 PR), Wilson (1600m, 3200m), Buckner (110HH), VanSyckle (Shot)  2nd PlaceBair (200), Wilson (400m, 800m), Nelson (1600m, HJ) Russo (3200m), VanSyckle (Discus, 119’7” PR),  3rd PlaceJ. Weeks (200m), Jones (400m), Russo (800m), Wheeler (1600m), Cato (110HH), Williams (PV, 9’6” PR).  We compete next Tuesday against Morley at Kent City.

The girls track team made it two CSAA victories in a row last night, soundly defeating Lakeview by a lopsided score of 100-36.   The Eagles won all but one running event, one relay, and one field event. The distance trio of Freeland, Martini, and Ignasiak led the way by sweeping the mile and 800 runs.  Kent City also took the top two spots in the 200 (Denhof & Weeks), the long jump (Freeland & Weber), the high jump (Weber & McCuaig), the 2 mile (Martini & Sizemore), and the discus (Rodenburg & Schneider-Thomas).  Individual winners included Dombrowski (pole vault), Weber (100 hurdles), and Freeland (400).

The JV boys baseball team traveled to Morley last night and were up 12-2 after 3 innings before the game was called due to rain.  The boys played great.  Great team effort.  Practice right after school today. 



STUDENT SERVICE SECTION

 

Job Shadowing: All students must complete two job shadows as part of your graduation requirements. See Student Services under High School on our school website for all the details.
Student Email Addresses: Mr. Wilson is using student email addresses (@kentcityschools.org) to send information related to careers, events, job shadow experiences, scheduling and more. You should forward these emails to your parents after reading them :)  Please check your school email addresses regularly. Also, use jeff.wilson@kentcityschools.org to ask Mr. Wilson school related questions.

FAFSA - MCC on Friday's:  Muskegon Community College offers free help filling out the FAFSA on Fridays.  Call for an appointment.

SAT/ACT Fee Waiver: Test fee waivers are available to economically disadvantaged 11th/12th graders. You are allowed to waiver the SAT or ACT Test fee twice. See Mr. Wilson for the qualifying information and the fee waiver #'s.

College Application Fee Waivers: Application fee waivers are available to economically disadvantaged applicants. See Mr. Wilson for the qualifying information and/or check college admission information on their websites for details.

Selective Service: Are you male? Are you 18 or going to be 18? If so, you MUST register with the Selective Service. This must be done within 30 days before and 30 days after your 18th birthday.
